Instrumental Central – Featured Music Producer

by Mike Lightner on January 11, 2015

ins-centralInstrumental Central is a music producer from london. his beats have been used by Krayzie Bone (Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), and artists on his beats have gone on to perform with MGK, E-40, Lloyd Banks, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and more! We recently caught up with Instrumental Central and asked him some questions about making beats and his career in the music industry.

How did you first get into music production?

When I was younger, I used to watch my older brother make beats on his apple mac G4. One day, he left his computer unlocked and went out, and when he came back, I’d made my first beat! After that, I got my own PC with cubase and started making my own beats.

Can you give some insight on your beat making process?

I just get inspired by what’s on the radio, and I try to create something unique, while maintaining a similar vibe to what people are already listening to.

Favorite software and equipment? Are you a mac or pc user?

I currently use Logic Pro 9 on Mac OS X Mavericks. I just make the beats on my laptop. I’ve also got an 88 key keyboard and will as some loudspeakers, nothing fancy but it gets the job done for now.

Can you describe your style of production? What would you compare it to?

I don’t really like to have one specific style of production, I like the fact that my beats are diverse. I can make an old school beat that old school rappers would love, and then still go and make a trap beat for the new school rappers.

How has the internet and leasing beats online affected your life the most?

I think it’s definitely great to know that upcoming artists really take an interest to my beats, it’s just a great feeling. It’s great to just wake up in the morning and make beats that inspire artists to write and record to. It’s also great to know that artists on my beats have gone on to build their name, the other day I spoke to one of my customers, and he told me he had gone on to perform with top artists such as MGK, Paul Wall, and E-40, using my beats! Another rapper managed to get Krayzie Bone from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony to feature on his track that used my beat!

What would be the one artist that you would love to work with the most? Anyone else?

2Pac, then Biggie, hands down. As for artists that are alive, probably Drake. I feel like he would fit on a lot of my beats.

Who is your favorite music producer to listen to and gain inspiration from?

I wouldn’t say I have a single favourite, more of a variety of producers. I studied Rodney Jerkins, Max Martin, Timbaland, Mike Will Made It, Jahlil Beats, and many more.

What are your plans for the near future 2015 and beyond?

My plans are to continue producing beats and sharing them with as many artists as possible!
