Canadian R&B crooner Keisha Chante has reportedly been chosen to play the late singer Aaliyah in an upcoming biopic.
According to The National Post, the currently untitled biopic will capture Aaliyah's rise to fame and her untimely death.
Aaliyah died in a plane crash in the Bahamas in 2001. She was 22 years old.
During her career, Aaliyah sold 32 million albums worldwide and was nominated for five Grammys. She was also romantically linked to Dame Dash and R. Kelly.
Other details surrounding the biopic were not revealed but it?s slated to open in theaters in 2009.
