    Default sony acid pro

wut you guys think of sony acid pro?
i personally use Cool edit pro 2.0 and dont plan on switching to something different but was just wondering what you guys thought.
i was talking to my one friend about it cuz he mentioned that he switched from Cool edit pro 2.0 to Sony Acid Pro but he didnt like Sony at all so he went back to Cool edit pro
so im guessing its not all that great.
    any thoughts??

acid pro is good for some things like chopping samples and some things like that but its more of a consumer level brand of software cool edit is pretty much prosumer so sort of semi pro and has better mixing capabilities than acid does. acid treated me well though for a while but honestly i only use cool edit nowadays for some rough drafts

Sony Acid is geared towards music creation, not tracking or mixing.

we used to use acid 4.0 and its equal to cool edit 2.1 but we recently went to sont acid 7.0 and its sick as hell, plus we have sonar also, sonar is difficult to figure out but has alot of plug ins, ill post some tracks and you can hear the difference!

I had trouble exporting quality files with acid, the files were enormous but the sound quality sucked, super low volume. I like cool edit waaaayyy better, but i do like how acid functions, the way you drag the tracks and what not

Sony acid pro 7 is great. Its using the zplane time stretch algorithm thats used in Ableton Live 8. Personally Ableton Live does more for me than Acid does. Acid is definelty superior to Cool Edit Pro 2.0. I dont think CE even supports vst plugins just dx. If you really like the interface of CE you should be using the Adobe version since ce pro 2.0 was made back in 99. Adobe Audition 3 is the latest version of CE. If youre just recording vocals i guess CE does the job but if you want to make beats or do some midi sequencing look elsewhere.

You have issues with the files coming out with reduced quality in acid? I've tried to adjust the settings and stuff but they still come out with less volume but a huge file compared to cool edit. I dont know what im doing wrong. I been using fruity loops as the main project editor ever since, because the original file coming out of fruits sounds alot better and is smaller

sorry cant say ive had any volume problems. i make sure i adjust the faders on each channel and make sure the mix sounds right. usually what i hear on my studio monitors sounds the same on the rendered wav file. i prefer using ableton live though for my daw and audio manipulation needs. it does more than acid although acid is straight forward.

how does the volume sound when you are playing files live in acid? does the rendered wav sound different when using itunes, windows media player, winamp etc? how does the master volume meter look during live? you could try running a compressor on the main output brickwall.

the meter looks maxed out, the volume sounds lower in the live view on acid than any other program, and the media player. I aint tried the compressor yet I'll give that a shot. How much ableton run you man? just curious
